Do you need to save face? In a new Chinese study analysing the impact of eyeglass shapes on facial appeal, glasses with frames of similar height and width decreased men’s perceived attractiveness. Use the chart below to select a sexier shape for your shades—and see how your mug scores in other measures of sex appeal.

 

Glasses shape: Don’t cave to the big-shades trend. Smaller frames scored highest.

 

 

Emotion: Women favour an expression of pride over one of happiness, neutrality, or shame.

 

 

Face shape: The formula for sex appeal: lowered brows, chiselled jaw, and upturned mouth.

 

 

Facial hair: Avoid extremes. Women prefer stubble to a full beard or baby face.
