Dater Management
Imagine… how much more simple dating would be if every woman could easily be categorised into one of five personality types. Well imagine no more. A new report from market research giant Mintel has done exactly that. Its study, Marketing to Women, pinpoints the likes, dislikes, desires and aspirations of a generation of women, giving you the ability to tailor the perfect evening to each of them.
Ms Exuberant
Likes clubbing, designer clothes, dancing, tennis
Date: The group date Destination: Park picnic
Your plan
“Assembling a group of friends for a low-key Saturday afternoon reveals your popularity, as people obviously want to be around you. Plus it shows you value her highly enough to integrate her,” says author and relationship coach Matthew Hussey. “Take her on the swings too: it’s a subtle way of ensuring body contact, while giving her an endorphin rush.”
Ms Uncomplicated
Likes cars, running, celebrity magazines, computer games
Date: The event date Destination: Korean restaurant
Your plan
“Pick a restaurant where you both get directly involved with the food,” says Ravinder Bhogal, a chef, food writer and author of Cook in Boots. “Go Korean or Mongolian – both are emerging trends and the food is often grilled at your table.” Not only does this add theatre, giving her a rush of excitement, but working together instantly forms a bond, bringing you closer from the start.
Ms Accomplished
Likes adventure travels, TV comedy, theatre, fashion magazines
Date: The emotional date Destination: The comedy club
Your plan
“Comedy is a great bonding experience, and laughter is a major aphrodisiac,” says Hussey. “Take her to a stand-up night – one where there are a lot of acts on for a short amount of time. This makes the evening more fast-paced and gives you more time to talk between the entertainment.”
Ms Cultured
Likes technology, cooking, BFM radio, art galleries
Date: The sexy date Destination: Burlesque club
Your plan
“A burlesque night will thrust you immediately into a low-key but exciting environment together – and this is exactly the type of woman who enjoys the thrill of something new,” says dating coach James Preece. Just keep it classy: you don’t want her thinking she’s going Filippina hostess bar.
Ms Passive
Likes beach holidays, family, novels, swimming
Date: The posh date Destination: Boutique hotel bar
Your plan
“This is a ‘framed environment’, making you both feel removed, relaxed and above normal life,” says Preece. “This kind of surrounding creates a positive and calming energy to put her at ease and make her more open to the opposite sex,” says Hussey. That means you.
