Frightening Whitening
Washing your clothes with chlorine bleach is a good way to kill germs. But at what price? Scientists at Marymount Manhattan College found that using this disinfectant leaves behind a carcinogen called organochlorine. They’re not sure if organochlorine in clothes poses a significant health hazard, but study author Alessandra Leri PhD, advises caution. Use bleach sparingly, and don’t exceed the amount per load specified on the bottle.
