How To Save Burnt Gravy
Learn these tricks and be a culinary hero—anywhere.
NO STIRRING
The first thing to do is to turn off the flame and do not attempt to stir it.
REPLACE THE POT
Depending on the severity of the burn, make sure to drain off some—maybe all—of the liquid and transfer the remaining ingredients into a new pot.
ADD IN INGREDIENTS
Top-up the ingredients that need replacing and reheat the dish. This process will only take about 30% of the time taken to cook it initially. Some acidic ingredients like vinegar will help to eliminate the burn smell from the curry.
PO-TAH-TO, PO-TAY-TO
If the dish is not already cooked with potatoes, adding some in will help absorb some of the smell.
SUGAR UP
Sugar or honey will help to doctor the taste; be careful not to add in too much.
