Mountain biking is a growing sport here in Malaysia with a huge active community that are making new trails with the sport every week. We spoke to Jeremy Ng (Jay) and Eunice Ng, avid mountain bike enthusiasts to get the lowdown on their top 5 bike trails in Kuala Lumpur!
1. Bukit Kiara, Taman Tun, Kuala Lumpur
“ I would describe it as a mountain biking haven. I guess there must be at least 15 different trails here that cater to needs of beginners right up to experts. The trails ranges from 2km loops to 20-minute climbs, roots and rocks to steep, tricky downhill sections. But we do share the area with joggers, jungle trackers and equestrians.” -Jay
2. Putrajaya Challenge Park, Precinct 5, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur
“Basically it’s a smooth-flowing network of man-made trails that comprises of a cross-country loop and a fast-paced downhill course. There’s a dirt jump section with a number of tabletops and some drops.” -Eunice
3. Kota Damansara Community Forest (KDCF), Kota Damansara, Kuala Lumpur
“The KDCF trails are relatively new, I think, nice smooth, not too tiring singletrack trail that’s almost 2km long. I heard there’s a new trail, but I’ve yet to visit.” -Eunice
4. Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Kepong, Kuala Lumpur
“I guess this is where most beginners start out. I did. Fresh air, wide trails, but do watch out for others who may be walking, jogging or tracking there.” -Jay
5. Shah Alam Extreme Park, Shah Alam.
“ This spot is more for people who like the feel of zero gravity. Some jumps, a wall ride and some drops.” -Jay
