Can a six-pack obsession lead to depression? In a study from Sweden, athletes who strove to be lean were more likely to be sick, angry and sad. That may be from overtraining, which can lower testosterone and lead to mood problems and respiratory infections, says study author Magnus Hagmar MD PhD. Feeling sapped? Ease up on workouts, raise your intake of energising carbs, and try yoga or massage—both can boost levels of feel-good endorphins.
