A Whole Bag of Nuts

Watch out if you’ve had a King Lear in your family. A research report from the Archives of General Psychiatry shows that a person’s risk of developing a psychiatric condition is higher when there’s a family history. Researchers looked at information on age of onset, recurrence, level of impairments, and use of services for depression, anxiety, alcohol dependence and drug dependence, along with family history. In general, a family history was associated with the presence of all four conditions. If you think you are at risk with any of the described conditions, it would be wise to look at the family tree.
