Pop This Snack

pop-ip When you’re craving a snack, remember that eating popcorn may help curb your appetite, new research finds. In a study presented at the Experimental Biology 2009 conference, people who ate 1 cup of microwave popcorn 30 minutes before lunch consumed 105 fewer calories at the meal than people who snacked on a cup of potato chips. Moreover, the popcorn had 15 calories; the chips had 150. The air in popcorn “tricks your body into thinking it’s full,” says study author James Rippe MD.
