Last-stitch Effort
Someday you’ll just need to use a little mussel to close a cut: Researchers from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill recently discovered that a natural adhesive from mollusks could one day replace stitches. The scientists note that the adhesive protein mussels use to anchor themselves to rocks is also strong enough to join skin tissue. Next step: testing the glue on people.
